Before buying my first hatchback, I started learning driving in a local driving school. As per the curriculum first 7 classes were with Maruti 800, old one and then rest of the classes on Hyundai Santro. So when I was on my 4th or 5th class, just got introduced to clutch & gear I started visiting various Car showrooms. I knew that I may not be able to drive the model I will be looking for but still can't stop myself of exploring the Cars. In-fact I have finished visiting all expected showrooms and finally reached Honda showroom. Still I am not confident to drive a new car independently and we were almost decided to buy the Honda Brio. But before that we wanted a test drive with my family and my friend's family.
On a Sunday evening we reached Pride Honda showroom to have a test drive of Honda Brio. But that sales man was playing with us saying Car is not available as other customer went for test drive. We also set there only as we were determined enough for the test drive. Anyway after 2 hour of waiting, finally the the Test Drive Car arrived. It was a Brio Automatic one, which is no meaning for us to test drive. But there was no option left for me as my wife, kid and my friend & his wife were waiting from last couple of hours for that moment. Anyway we all boarded on that and had a round of few KMs of city. Everyone seems satisfied with the feel of the Car except myself. I know that this is not the meaning of a Test drive at-least for who will drive the Car in future.
Anyway after few such bitter experiences from Pride Honda Madhapur branch, I then landed to Pride Honda Banjara hills branch where I really received a very good attention. Not only that, as the showroom was 12 KM far from my home that salesperson told me, they will come to my home for a test drive. I was very happy to hear such a nice gesture and assistance from them. By the day I was shifted from Maruti 800 to Santro and attended few classes on Santro itself. On that day when they came with the Car for a test drive I was in a confusion what to do. But the driver told me nothing will happen Sir, just try once. This gave me a good boost and I boarded to drive the Car. I started the vehicle and released the first gear. The Car started like a smooth butter. Then I got some confidence and had a ride of 2-3 KM around my society. Everyone was satisfied the way I drove the Car, mainly my wife.
In this test drive I really discovered a driver in me and also found that driving a new Car is really a treat. The engine of the Car was so silent that I was not able to recognize whether it's on or off. I found it very easy to take a U turn where the Car siply turn with a swing even without a huge space. This few minute test drive make me feel mad about this Car and the immediate effect was I started missing my driving classes. Actually after this test drive I realized that there is no point to drive that old Santro and I was desperate to bring the New Honda Brio as early as possible.
On that day itself I booked the car and done few formalities like handling the documents to the Salesperson and for SBI Car Loan application. This is the only car I test drive. I know people generally drive all the Cars then decide, but for me that was enough. I would be really happy to listen few of your such experiences here.
