How to find a profitable niche to target

Finding a profitable niche, focused target market for your services can be stumbling blocks encountered by beginning internet marketers. In reality, there’s no reason to get discouraged. , there are plenty of niche on the markets . You just have to know where to look.  When the right niche is chosen it will help your clients to focus on and identify the services that you offer, and it will help you to develop deep expertise in a single area and "niching" will help you to raise your rates and create a successful business.

To maximize the benefits you'll get, you want to make sure that you choose a good niche. To niche well, there are several questions to consider:

  • It has sufficient search traffic to indicate demand.
  • There are proven internet buyers.
  • It is reasonably accessible in terms of competition.

If your niche fits these criteria, then it's likely that you've created a great niche, one in which you will make more sales and grow your business.

It’s hard to find a niche that you would like to promote because you like it but it might be one that the market is totally saturated so finding a niche is on something that you really don’t care for still would work out for you!. let’s look at how to find a niche market using a few of my favorite resources.

The Google Keyword Tool

If you want your website to attract searchers, you need to use strong keywords in your website titles and website text . These brief words should realistically identify and describe your site.

Keyword Tool

Keyword Tool is the world standard of webmaster research to test search words in use and to find new keyword suggestions. Most people use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool for looking up the search volume and commerciality of individual keywords (i.e. the searches that people type into Google), but you can easily explore dozens of niches using the All Categories sidebar on the left. It’s amazing how many ideas you’re presented with in a few seconds of navigation. Advertisers with AdWords are main users of this tool, testing keywords to bid on for top ad placement on search pages.
To start using this tool, click the "Tools and Analysis" tab and select the Keyword Tool from the menu.

Wordtracker keyword research tool

Free Wordtracker keyword research tool -This is another keyword research tool. It’s the free edition, so you would only get the first 100 results I think. It’s worth checking out.

Google Trends

Is excellent tool to find out what people are searching for any day. It is an excellent resource and it also gives you the top 100 search terms which are updated periodically. It’s relatively easy to use. Just type in a search term and Google will break it down by related keywords supported by graphs and charts. You can then determine your niche market.

eBay

eBay is another great resource to find profitable niche markets. On eBay Item that gets the most bids signals the most commercial interest. For internet marketing, you don’t just want to focus on the number of “eyeballs”, but find ways to measure the number of enthusiasts who are willing to spend real money. you can visit eBay’s pulse page and view the top searched items buyers are searching for. Once you find a hot key word. You could then use the keyword with the SEO Keyword Suggestion Tool to narrow down your niche market.

SEO Power

A quick little seo tool I use to quickly pull up Google page rank, indexed pages in the search engines, and information about the links on a website.

Magazines

Have you ever thought you could find a niche by scouring through the magazine?. Magazines are also great places to find others selling into your niche, and if you go to the classified section at the back you can often assess who’s out there already and what your competition’s going to be AND how they’re promoting their products. Magazines may have lost their allure in the digital age, any magazine that’s been around for years caters to a proven market. Magazines live and die by advertising revenue, not sales at the news stand or subscriptions; so if they can’t drum up enough commercial interest to cover their production costs, they’ll fold in short order.

Digg

Digg is another free resource for finding niche markets. Just browse through some of the digg’s categories and find some of the top stories that people enjoy. Now try to find a niche market that relates to some of the stories you are browsing, make sure your market relates to popular stories.

keyword snatcher

I have to say I have been totally bowled over by Keyword Snatcher. Like a lot of people I have only ever used Google's keyword tools in the past but keyword Snatcher is like being given the keys to a secret world. Powerful keywords that I would never have dreamed of appear at the click of the mouse. If you are going to do a job right you need the correct tools and I don't see how you can do proper keyword research without Keyword Snatcher.

Social Networking Sites

There are hundreds of social networking sites around the web today. It is very daunting for you if you make a profile in each of those sites. Creating Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin profiles would be enough for you as a start. With twitter, you can find trends, hot topics, and gaps in the current market which can give you insight about the next great niches.Twitter is a interesting marketing tool because it gives you access to what people really talk about when they are not holding back. Any marketing survey is bound to get a canned response.

More tools will be added soon, be sure to bookmark this page. If you have a tool like to share it, feel free to contact me and I will post it on this page or If you know any other tools , I’d love to hear about them in the comments..
